Robinsun Funding round announcement

Robinsun secures €600,000 in funding to expand across Europe and achieve profitability

Madrid, 22.01.2025

Robinsun, the startup revolutionizing residential solar energy founded by Boris Hageney, has successfully closed a €600,000 funding round with participation from the Akka investor club, several business angels including Albert Armengol, and support from Enisa, Aquisgran, and EIT Climate-KIC.

This round will enable the company to accelerate growth and expand into multiple European markets, aiming for profitability. Robinsun’s plug-and-play solar kits, already highly popular in Germany with more than 2.5 million installations, are also rapidly gaining traction in Spain and Southern Europe. Easy to install within minutes and accessible to all households, these kits can reduce electricity bills by more than 50%.

“We are thrilled to support an experienced founder like Boris Hageney in a startup that combines a solid business model with immediate and measurable impact in the fight against climate change. Robinsun has the potential to transform the lives of many families and significantly contribute to the decarbonization of residential electricity consumption,” says Javier Desantes, CEO of Akka Spain.

“From the start, Robinsun has benefited from the backing of entrepreneurial business angels in the tech and solar energy sectors. With Akka, we have found an investor club led by entrepreneurs like Pedro Buerbaum and Thomas Rebaud, who are a perfect fit for our ambitious team to support Robinsun’s growth and expansion,” explains Boris Hageney, founder of Robinsun and a seasoned entrepreneur with experience in Europe and the U.S.

Immediate Impact and Rapid Expansion Across Europe

Solar kits are revolutionizing the residential energy sector. A Robinsun plug-and-play solar kit generates around 1,600 kWh of 100% renewable solar energy annually, saving 0.41 t of CO₂ emissions in Spain, as certified by independent verification company Impact Forecast BV. Collective action amplifies impact: with each installed solar kit, Robinsun contributes more to the decarbonization of residential energy. In Germany, 2.5 million installed kits represent a total capacity of 2,000 MW, more than a Spanish nuclear power plant, saving millions of families money on electricity bills each month.

Following the massive success of these kits in Germany, they are now rapidly expanding across the rest of Europe. Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy are among the most promising markets, thanks to their abundant sunlight and the excellent performance of plug-and-play solar kits. Robinsun aims to strengthen its leadership position in Southern Europe by focusing its expansion efforts on these markets.
