5 solar energy myths

Top 5 solar myths unveiled

Despite its growing popularity and clear benefits, solar energy still faces some misinterpretations. These myths could come from outdated information and insufficient understanding of the technology. Misconceptions about solar energy may stop you from investing in a technology that not only benefits you financially but also contributes positively to the planet. By unveiling solar myths, we hope to help you make more informed decisions and pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.

Myth #1: Solar panels are not worth it financially

As well discussed in our previous blogs, investing in solar panels can lead to significant financial savings over time. Germany, Spain and Portugal, for example, have very short earnback times below 2 years. Your PV electricity cost/kWh over 30 years is reduced by 90% with our 30 year-production-warranty. Apart from the direct savings that we can see from power bills, many regions offer feed-in tariffs where excess energy produced by solar kits can be sold back to the grid. Given the feed-in price is always lower than the consumption price due to transportation costs, you can always get batteries to store the energy for later use. The financial benefits greatly outweigh the initial investment on solar kits.

Myth #2: Solar energy is only for homeowners

Solar energy is not only for homeowners. At Robinsun, we offer plugin solar kits that you can install anywhere in your home: balconies, terraces, gardens, walls, pergolas. Anybody can install solar panels pretty much anywhere. And since plugin kits are movable, if you change your home, you can take them with you. We offer balcony solar kits that you can install on your balcony. We recently updated the mounts we use, making it even easier to install. For more information, you can check our previous blog on new product launch.

Myth #3: Solar panels will not last long

Modern solar panels are built to last for decades. We work with Aiko, a renowned solar panel manufacturer and the first to innovate the ABC (All Back Contact) solar panels. We use AIKO 445W ABC N-type Monofacial Full Black solar panels. They come with a production warranty of 30 years, but often continue to produce electricity well beyond this period. Advances in technology and manufacturing processes have made solar panels more durable and resistant to weather conditions, ensuring a long operational lifespan.

Myth #4: Solar kits are difficult to install

We focus on plugin solar kits which you can install easily by yourself. All you need to do is to connect the panel with the mount, plug in the micro inverter, and plug in the Schuko cable. You get to check your production in real time and visualize your savings on the APP. Check the installation video below if you want to learn more. See in the video below how easy it is to install a Robinsun performance on a flat roof for example.

Myth #5: Solar energy isn’t reliable

Solar energy systems are highly reliable. Advances in technology have made solar panels more efficient, and with the integration of battery storage systems, solar power can be stored for use during nighttime or cloudy days. Solar energy can provide a consistent, reliable, and renewable source of power, reducing dependence on the grid. And remember that solar panels also produce when the sun is not directly shining, in any month of the year.

Conclusion

By explaining these myths, it becomes clear that solar energy is a viable, sustainable, and beneficial option for many families. As technology continues to improve and costs decrease, there has never been a better time to consider investing in solar energy.
