Solar storage explained – find the right battery for your home

The sunniest days of the year are here, and the Robinsun team wants every household to make the most of solar energy and maximize their savings.

That’s why, in addition to our solar kits, we offer several storage solutions that allow you to keep all your surplus energy produced during the day and use it when you need it most, at night, on cloudy days, or even during power outages.

Each storage solution has a different design and functionality, specifically built to fit different types of installations and needs.

We currently offer five battery models:

  • Marstek Venus E (5,12 kWh, multiple installations possible)
  • Marstek Saturn C (2,24 kWh, multiple installations possible)
  • Anker Solarbank 2 Pro (1,6 kWh, expandable up to 9,6 kWh)
  • Anker Solarbank 2 AC (1,6 kWh, expandable up to 9,6 kWh)
  • Anker Solarbank E1600 (1,6 kWh)

These five devices can be divided into three formats:

  • All-in-one storage systems
  • Storage independent from solar panels
  • Storage for plugin solar kits

All our batteries come with a 10-year product warranty, 15-year performance warranty, and 6,000-cycle lifespan.

All-in-one storage: with built-in microinverter

These systems combine a battery, controller and micro inverter in one single device. They plug directly into your home socket and don’t require any additional components other than solar panels. They are the simplest and fastest solution to add energy storage.

Thanks to their built-in microinverter, you just connect the panels directly to the device using MC4 cables, and through the app you can monitor your consumption, production, and optimize the use of stored energy to power your home when it matters most.

Anker Solarbank 2 Pro

The Anker Solarbank 2 Pro has input for up to 4 solar panels and a storage capacity of 1,6 kWh, with stackable expansion options up to 9,6 kWh in total. It includes an 800 W grid output and a 1000 W off-grid output (increased to 1200 W if at least 1 extra battery pack is added).

In case of blackouts or for use in an off-grid home, it features an AC output socket where you can plug in devices directly or connect a power strip to run multiple small appliances.

Anker Solarbank 2 AC

The Anker Solarbank 2 AC is similar to the Pro version, but with direct input for 2 solar panels. Its AC socket is bidirectional: in off-grid mode it lets you power your devices, but it can also receive input from a microinverter of an existing Performance 800 plugin solar kit. This way, you can charge it with up to 4 panels, just like the Solarbank Pro 2.

Storage independent from the panels

These batteries do not connect to solar panels but plug directly into any socket in your home, regardless of where your solar kit is installed.

Marstek Venus E

The Marstek Venus E detects when you are producing solar energy and automatically stores any surplus in combination with the Smart Meter. This avoids feeding energy into the grid and maximizes your production and savings. It’s a highly efficient solution for those who already have a working solar kit.

This battery even works without any solar panels installed. It can recharge when electricity prices are low (for example, at night) and use that energy when prices peak (for example, at midday). With a massive 5,12 kWh storage capacity and a 2.500 W output, you can store all your solar energy during the day and keep your home running through the night.

It also includes a 2.500 W AC output socket where you can plug in essential devices like your fridge, lighting, or Wi-Fi router during a power outage and keep them running for several hours, or even days.

In case of power outage, you can connect your plugin solar kit to charge your battery during the day, and use the AC socket to power your emergency devices with your solar energy.

Storage for plugin solar kits

In these systems, the battery is installed between the solar panels and the microinverter of your plugin solar kit. It receives energy directly from the panels, and then sends it to the microinverter to be used in your home when you need it.

Marstek Saturn C

The Marstek Saturn C is compatible with all our plugin solar kits. It is easily installed between panels and microinverter, with no extra work required.

It supports solar kits with up to 1.600 W input and provides a continuous output of 800 W. With 2,24 kWh of storage and a compact design, it's an ideal choice for home installations with limited space.

You can install up to 4 Saturn C systems in parallel, using 6 solar panels and 4 micro inverters, for a maximum total output of 3,2 kW. You will have to install a dedicated line to this storage solution and certify it.

Anker Solarbank E1600

The Anker Solarbank E1600 is a powerful and versatile solar battery, with 1,6 kWh of capacity, is perfect for storing energy from your plugin solar kit. It connects directly between the panels and the microinverter.

Conclusion

Do you need massive storage to keep the surplus energy from your solar installation, take advantage of low electricity prices at night, and have backup power during outages to run your devices for several hours? The Marstek Venus E is your best choice.

Looking for the simplest plug and play option with a built-in microinverter and controller, plus backup in case of blackouts? Go for the Anker Solarbank 2 AC or 2 Pro.

Do you already have a plugin solar kit and want to integrate storage directly into your system? The Marstek Saturn C or Anker Solarbank E1600 are perfect for that.
